Interesting; FYI, some of the dates are "off" in the little historical over-view paragraph doohickey at the top of the page you linked (eg, movie was filmed in 74, released in 77; Keith joined in 71; etc).

Well, if serious..."doodad" as in little device of unknown function (my role here? the--to me--unknown role of the offending paragraph? well, no; it IS historical, but I like it for a general ref to any entity)...

Since it seems to have origins in "what" somethingamajib "does" (a doer, not a digger), I would think water droplets are out of the running...
